History

STAGE 1: 1968-95
1968: Beginning of visits to the region for ecological and tourist purposes. Help to the community is provided by the initiative, and at the expense, of Mrs. Beatriz Borjas- Cuenod.
1973-88: Creation of school, construction of houses, basic medical care and occasional dental care.
1989-95: Creation of the "Fundacion CUBO". Promotion of the construction of latrines in the villages of the region. Acquisition through a free loan, and remodling of constructions abandoned by the Venezuelan Armed Forces after the construction of the highway from "Caicara del Orinoco" to "Puerto Ayacucho" in the "Amazonas" state. Addition of the "Asociacion de Damas Salesianas", of the "Centro Medico de Caracas" Hospital and of the "Fundacion Centro Medico" to the project.

STAGE 2: 1996-2000
1996: Assignment of permanent doctor at the "La Milagrosa" Center. Visits of stagiares, Venezuelan volunteers and foreign volunteers (from France, England and Spain).
1997: Beginning of recovery of constructions and acquisition of equipment with financial support of the Autonomous Community of Madrid, Spain (clinical equipments, electric power plants, telecommunication and transport).
1999: Assignment of dentists, by means of permanent program of stages of students of the last semester of the Central University of Venezuela.
2000: Assignment of stagiares of medicine and bio-analysis of the Central University of Venezuela. Creation of the school dining room and of the didactic "Sustainable Family Farm" at the "La Milagrosa" Center. Constitution and incorporation of the "Fundacion Proyecto Maniapure".

STAGE 3: 2001-2005 (GOALS)
· Guarantee permanent supply of electric power (options: hydroelectric, eolic, solar, EDELCA)
· Recover infrastructure completly and acquire equipment.
· Consolidate projects of productive development and education (extension of school level to 9º grade)
· Technical assistance to surrounding medical posts and schools
· Additional vehicles in order to increase assistance and penetration to isolated communities
· Master Plan for urban development.
