The "Region of Maniapure" in Venezuela has been defined as the zone of medical and social influence of the "La Milagrosa" Center, which is a privately funded basic medical center ("Ambulatorio Rural Tipo II"). It started operations under the patronage of the Cuenod-Borjas family and the "Fundacion CUBO". During the last few years, the "La Milagrosa" Center has been administered by the "Asociacion de Damas Salesianas", a private non-profit organization, with the support of the "Fundacion Centro Medico" of the "Centro Medico" hospital of Caracas.

The region of Maniapure is located within the Cedeņo Municipality of the Bolivar state specifically in the Parishes "Capital Cedeņo" and "La Urbana". This is an area of plains limiting by the Orinoco river in the north-northeast and by the northwest border of the "La Encaramada" range, which separates of the area of influence of "Caicara del Orinoco" to that of Maniapure and "Los Pijiguaos", further south. The south-east border of the Maniapure region is "La Cerbatana" range. In all, it comprises an area of approximately 10,000 Km2, with a very low density of population.
The inhabitants of the Maniapure region are distributed among 40 villages or dispersed communities of which 33 are of Creoles and 7 are of indigenous people.
