Education and culture
It is well known that among the most
important causes for expansion of rural poverty are the low level
of formal education within the population and the deficiencies in
the quality and practical relevance of the education.
This region has seven schools located in Maniapure, El Zamuro, Cerro
Aislado, La Emilia, Aguas Negras, El Guarray and El Ciruelo, that
students attend until the 6º grade of elementary school.
The school of the "La Milagrosa" Center depends on the Ministry
of Education, Culture and Sports and which was created in 1986.
More than 100 children (1º to 6º grade) with five teachers giving
classes for several levels in a same schedule and classroom.
The majority of the children go to school by bicycle and for some,
the journey from their houses to the school takes an hour.

Taking advantage of this school being
within the "La Milagrosa" Center, the Maniapure Project has devised
actions to supplement the formative work of the school, fundamentally
with activities of educational support, recreational, sports, dance
and folkloric music, carried out in the afternoon. Also, for the
purpose of proportioning a nutritional complement to the children,
a dining room was build to offer them lunch, in order to guarantee
them at least one complete and balanced meal a day. In this same
line, every month of November the Project organizes the Cultural
Festival of Maniapure, in which children and adults of the area
participate, as well as guest artists of other regions of the country.
Contests of cultural manifestations are all aiming at reinforcing
the conscience of the national and regional identity.
